'Must Have Lamp' Demonstrates Flexibility

RPC Promens Industrial Belgium is making its first foray into the non-packaging sector with the manufacture of a stylish new lamp for the home, called the ‘Lily’.

The Gent site has teamed up with Xala, a leading Belgian supplier of stylish and affordable products for the home and garden, who was in search of a blow moulding partner to produce its new lamp design.

Conceived by design agency Nuuv, the Lily resembles an old fashioned oil lamp, with subtle curves and an elegant fi nger handle, making it an ideal addition to Xala’s range of simple, accessible, and distinctive products. RPC Promens worked with the agency to make some minor adjustments to ensure the design could be manufactured effectively.

The lamp is produced in HDPE, and weighs 111 grams without its electrical components. An important marketing tool is its ‘Made in Belgium’ label.

“This is the first non-traditional product to be manufactured at our site and, as such, presented a challenge to our craftsmen, which they were quick to embrace,” comments RPC Promens business development manager Peter Slabbaert.

“The result is a beautiful and stylish lamp which we are sure will be the next must-have in Xala’s range.”
